» I'm an asshole
Grumpliciously tired am I. I'm drooping a bit and I feel ornery (no, not horny), so I'm gonna say some things that I will regret in the morning. Yes, I've been looking at some of the other journals around here. I'm not going to comment on the content. But can't help saying a word or two about the designs. Then I'll shut up and go to sleep and feel terrible about it in the morning. First of all, part of what I do for a living is Web design and development, so this isn't really fair of me because I started out making all these mistakes myself... Most of the Diarylanders live in awe/fear of a certain member who shall remain anonymous. I've visited this person's site on occasion, but I generally get too impatient while waiting for the very slow loading graphics to render. There are a number of sites using graphics with large file sizes. Large graphics that add nothing to the functionality of the page are more likely to annoy people than to impress them. Then there are those folks who are using a font size that renders too small to actually be read (I'm not exagerating) on one type of computer or the other. (I'm not getting into a Mac vs Windows vs Linux debate, so I'm not going to say what I use.) Finally, there's a certain user whose design skills have been featured by DiaryLAndrew on the 'Recent Updates' page. Now, I'll admit, the designs are very cool. I like them quite a bit. But once again, there is some flaw on certain browsers or platforms which makes most of the same person's own journal unreadable. (I mean, really unreadable because a third of the text gets hidden behind what I assume is a black LAYER.) Now, I know it's not fair of me to make any comments. Part of my job is designing web pages that display correctly on all browsers and all platforms. But as I said, I'm feeling grumplicious, so there. Now for a good solid eight hours of peaceful slumber.
